Melbourne, voted the world’s most liveable city for the 6th consecutive time and it’s not difficult to understand why. As Australia’s capital for food, fashion and festivals, there is always something to do in Melbourne with an abundance of events and activities for all throughout the year.
Iconic landmarks around the city all accessible by the famous tram network or take it all in with a cruise along the Yarra River through the heart of the city. Alternatively, take in the vista from the lofty heights of the Eureka Skydeck or the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel in Docklands with the views going out into Port Phillip Bay and rural Victoria that holds so much more for the holiday maker and traveller looking to discover what has been named the garden State of Australia.
Blessed with a temperate climate, you’re never far from beautiful parks and gardens with the inevitable joggers, cyclists and walkers, from early morning until dusk.
Melbourne hides an eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars in the maze of laneways and arcades that wind their way through the historic inner city. Offering a rare mix of the new and old, from the 19th century interiors of the impressive Block and Royal Arcades to the stunning street art that covers the walls, doors and floors, the most famous being Hosier Lane and AC/DC Lane.
Relax with a latte or flat white coffee in Degraves Street and people watch or stroll through the urban and chic stores of Flinders Lane or sample the fare at the many hole-in-the –wall cafés and bars. The Nicholas building is home to the historic Cathedral Arcade and 10 storeys of studios and specialist outlets.
Revered as Australia’s premier shopping location, with an unlimited selection of designer shops and stores with Chadstone shopping centre claimed to be the biggest in the Southern hemisphere. It doesn’t stop there though and who can resist a stroll through the many markets: Prahran, Queen Victoria Market and South Melbourne market to name just a few.
